First 100 Days – TTFA

The new President of Trinidad and Tobago Football Association, Mr William Wallace, held a press conference after the first 100 days in office. The new TTFA wanted to meet with the media on an ongoing basis however this is the first time they met with the media since they got into office.

The newly elected Board found the following when they came into office on 24 Nov 2019 :

  • Debt of 50 Million
  • There was no money to pay staff for the month of Nov 2019
  • The last time statutory payments such as NIS, Health Surcharge and PAYE were paid was Nov 2017. This is currently a debt of 4 Million.
  • A debt of 850,000 TTD to Travel Agencies
  • A loan to CONCACAF of 600,000 USD. The monthly interest is 2,500 USD. The current interest due is 63,000 USD
  • 29 Bounced cheques totaling 345,000 TTD
  • Match agents are owed 148,000 TTD from friendlies that were played
  • Match fees of 1 Million owed to players, they have not been paid since June 2019
  • Coaches and Technical staff were owed money since June 2019, total 1.3 Million

Other items of note:

  • 990,000 was given to TTFA by FIFA for the new league which was established.
  • 6 Million was collected in friendly matches
  • Kendall Walker has a court order where the the TTFA accounts have been frozen and are being garnished to support the judgement.
  • There is an ongoing court matter with Stephen Hart on a terminated contract.
  • FIFA gives funding for projects every two years of 2 M USD. For the period 2019-2021 there is 109,000 USD left.

The Home of Football Hotel recently opened was temporarily closed. Some of the reasons were:

  1. There was no fire clearance for the Hotel.
  2. Liability Insurance not in place
  3. There were leaks in the building

Some Completed Items

  1. The TTFA signed an MOU to clear the 50 M debt in the next 3 years
  2. Selwyn Melville’s 15 year court matter was settled out of court. It is related to the trademark for Soca Warriors.
  3. Secured an apparel deal worth 25 M over four years.
  4. A new website was established
  5. Secured first domestic sponsor, Caribbean Chemicals
  6. Secured Sponsorship for a new PRO league. This should be kicked off in mid-June.
