So I like to go down to the drag for Panorama and listen to a few of the bands. I never stay long, but if I am lucky the bands will let me stand in the middle of them performing/practicing and the experience is like no other! This year I got to stand in the middle of CAL Invaders. A couple of the members anxiously asked me “how was it, how we soundin?!” I could honestly say I loved it!
The front line of Supernovas was young, vibrant, the drill master making them do it again.
On the other side of the Savannah, RBC Redemption patiently practicing over and over. When other bands stopped they would do it one more time. It paid off, they made it to the finals on Carnival Saturday placing ninth.
Every year there are some men present in elaborate suits, sometimes with walking sticks, they make me smile. I am always hesitant to take any pictures of them, I feel like I am intruding but maybe next time I will ask.
While we were leaving I saw two men selling instant pictures. I am used to seeing corn soup, nuts even the gambling during semis but not photos. I wondered how they were doing in this age where everyone has a cell phone, the age of the selfie. I stopped to ask and agreed to give them $20 to get my pic taken.
“How sales going?”
“Ok, things little rough but we want to make an honest dollar”
“Good job guys, thanks eh. See you at the finals!”**
**They told me their names but I misplaced it. If anyone knows their names please message us.
