5 Things to do Each Day

Five things

In Trinidad and Tobago we will be entering the stage from Sunday 29 Mar midnight where non-essential persons are to stay home. We have been told that we are only to go to the store and straight back home. Some persons were already working from home but after Sunday it will be mandatory that we stay in our house unless there is something urgent.

My company has been working from home for the last two weeks and there have been 5 things that I have tried to do each day that has made it easier. If I do not do every one of those things everyone agrees I am definitely not a happy camper by the end of the day.

1. Pray or Meditate. Whatever God you believe in please spend at least half an hour in prayer. It will help to still that dread we all feel when we listen to news throughout the day. If you do not believe in any God then meditate or just sit and breathe in and out for ten minutes. Trust me you have no where else to go right now. Many religions have Facebook live church services, whats app groups.

2. Eat properly. Yes that means you will have to cook and wash the plates after. Some people will forget to eat and others will eat endless junk food. Plan out in advance what you should be eating and put it out for the day. Once you finish eating what you put out for the day make sure and stop. On the other side for those of you who struggle to eat in times of stress have set times for you to eat your meals. If you are not sure what to cook check Eat Ah Food. They are trying to give you some quarantine food ideas. Their latest is how to cook bake and shark.

3. Socialize with someone in someway and do not discuss Covid-19. If you live alone pick up the phone and call someone. If you live with others make sure you turn off the TV/computer and talk with persons who live with you about something other than Covid-19. Some other ideas are:

  • Board Games (Santimanitay shout out!)
  • Puzzles
  • Colouring or Painting

4. Exercise. You will not be walking or moving around as you did before. Gym is out of the question. There are endless Youtube exercise videos. Some of our favs are:

  • Fitness Marshall for dance
  • Kickboxing – High Impact, I still use Bills Blanks 🙂
  • Leslie Sansone – Low Impact
  • Yoga with Cassandra

There are groups like Sparkpeople.com where you can get free videos to do and have communities to talk about exericse and diet. You can also contact your trainer and pay them to do a specialized programme for you. Make sure and move.

5. Laugh. Laugh loud, laugh often. It is proven that our health both physical and mental improves with laughter. Look at comedies, read jokes, play games either online or with those with you in the house. Keep it light and keep it fun. Your mental health is important and laughter will help.

Looking at this list I realise that we need these things in our lives at all times whether Covid-19 is present or not. Now it is even more important so see you on the other side!
